Like many of his teammates, LaMarcus Aldridge is very involved in the Portland community. Since settling down in Portland, LaMarcus has been involved in numerous youth, educational, and other community initiatives. His dedication to giving back during his young career is a testament to his selfless nature and desire to help out others. Some of the events that LaMarcus has participated in include:

Seeds of Peace International Camp – Play for Peace Basketball Clinic
The Seeds of Peace International Camp, located in the wilderness of Maine, is a camp that brings together young Arabs, Israelis, and other children from war torn areas of the world. The camp stresses communication, teamwork, and trust building so that these children can grow up with a better understanding of people they are told are their “enemies.” The Play for Peace Basketball Clinic is a fundamental part of this program as it emphasizes many of the same life skills that the camp strives to teach its visitors. While at the camp LaMarcus taught rebounding skills and also participated in a dialogue with the campers. You can check out his thoughts on the experience by clicking here.

Each little brother was given a signed jersey from there big brother and then the rest of the evening was spent eating, playing video games, football, and ping pong. LaMarcus and his little brother spent the majority of their time shooting hoops and playing ping pong. The evening ended with each little brother receiving an X-Box 360 and a game to go along.
Back to School Basketball Clinic
This September LaMarcus volunteered his time to get kids excited about coming back to school. Along with teammate Travis Outlaw, LaMarcus hosted a clinic teaching basketball to the lucky youngsters at Peninsula Elementary, where earlier in the year LaMarcus and the Blazers presented the school with a $5,000 dollar check to refurbish the outdoor play area, including the creation of new basketball courts. During this visit LaMarcus taught drills in rebounding, dribbling, and shooting, while also speaking about the importance of education.
